As a passionate and enthusiastic graduating teacher, my career goal is to become a classroom teacher in early elementary. I am graduating this December from the University of Lethbridge Education program with a B.A. in Social Studies and a B.Ed. specializing in Early Childhood Education, both with honours with distinction. Completing such a renowned program has prepared me for the challenging and rewarding teaching profession with over 22 weeks of practical teaching experience in a diverse range of placements, including urban and rural schools, an ELL, an Indigenous on-reserve, and a high needs CBE school.
I am a firm believer in a community-centred classroom for all students to be successful by embracing and including complex needs and behaviours and diverse ways of knowing and living, cultural differences, and varying abilities in the classroom. I create healthy and welcoming communities in each of the classrooms I teach through genuine care for my students, treating students with respect and expecting the same from them, and by teaching to each students’ needs for every child to be successful. |
My most recent experience at a high needs CBE school in a grade 1 / 2 class has prepared me for teaching during a global pandemic and adapting to AHS, Alberta Government, and CBE safety regulations. I am also highly skilled in adapting to complex needs such as ASD, global developmental delay, ADHD, speech and communication delays, and ELL students. I worked alongside a highly skilled and experienced teacher mentor to develop strategies for these complex needs both within the classroom and through instruction and direction for educational assistant support. As a highly effective team player, I planned and taught alongside two other grade 1 / 2 team teachers ensuring high levels of detailed unit and lesson planning and thorough and valid assessment strategies.
I am looking for employment that aligns with my professional teaching philosophy and passion for the teaching profession. I strongly believe in students coming first, safe and caring places for student-centered learning, and embracing diverse and complex needs for every child to be successful. |
