Having elders and community members in and around the school is a natural fit, seeing as the community regards the raising of children to be a collective responsibility. Seeing as I am a teacher in this community, I take my responsibility for the students in my classroom seriously and with pride and care.

will be joining grade 4 at Napi's Playground Elementary School. I can't wait to meet my students and TA and to learn from them all. I believe that this experience is going to be beneficial and meaningful to me because while I can study the history and contemporary realities of Indigenous people in my classes, understanding their lived experiences and making meaningful connections is what I strive to discover more about in this practicum. I hope to bring my experience and teaching strategies to this practicum, and am looking to listen and form meaningful relationships in order to take in the knowledge that I know my students will bring.
